Modified on Thu, 20 Feb at 12:44 PM

Note: To install RemoteSpark by sideloading, you will first need to have received an app package from the Kognitiv Spark team.

Prerequisite | Access Windows Device Portal

To sideload RemoteSpark onto a HoloLens, it will be necessary to access the Windows Device Portal. There are a few steps to take to access this tool:

How to access the Windows Device Portal

Once you've accessed the Windows Device Portal, you can proceed to the next steps.

Sideload | HoloLens

Note: The best practice for updating RemoteSpark by sideload is to uninstall the old version of RemoteSpark on the HoloLens before installing the new version.

  1. Unzip the RemoteSpark build folder.

  2. In the Windows Device Portal, navigate to Views > Apps in the sidebar.

  3. Click Choose File. This is under the Local Storage tab, which should be the default.

  4. Select bundle file found in the unzipped RemoteSpark build folder.

  5. Select the checkbox for Allow me to select framework packages and click Next.

  6. To choose necessary dependencies, select Choose File.

  7. In the file explorer popup, navigate to /Dependencies/arm. Open the dependency files one at a time. For each one, you will need to select Choose File again.

  8. Click Install once you've added all three dependency files.

  9. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, the installation is complete. You may close the Windows Device Portal and verify the installation by checking for RemoteSpark in the All Apps section of your HoloLens home menu.
