Term:Description:
3D content/3D assets

3D models, photos, documents that can be shared and viewed in a RemoteSpark Session.

3D model/3D holographic model

a 3D file prepared for RemoteSpark. RemoteSpark accepts zipped glTF 2.0 files, or. kspark files (only currently available from Kognitiv Spark).

Bounding boxthe adjustment tool that can be toggled to allow the HoloLens user to manipulate (rotate and scale) 3D models in RemoteSpark.
Call Settings

settings that allow the HoloLens user to set the audio/video streaming as they call an Expert user.

Custom session

a Starred Session that’s created by the user, without the need for a video call and can be viewed by a HoloLens user.

Expert

any user of the desktop (PC) RemoteSpark software. Expert users can receive video calls from remote users (HoloLens) and provide guidance and support with RemoteSpark.

glTF

Graphics Language Transmission Format 2.0 – the 3D model standard that is supported within RemoteSpark.

Immersive View/Holographic ViewWhen a HoloLens user has entered the 3D view/immersive state of RemoteSpark. This is achieved when a video call has connected, or the user is viewing a single 3D model from their Gallery or viewing a session.
Low bandwidth modeRemoteSpark allows the HoloLens to initiate a video call with audio/video streaming at 256 kbps or 128 kbps. This must be selected when they initiate the video call and cannot be done when using the Quick Call button.
Microsoft Account Service

can be used to validate users in RemoteSpark with their Microsoft Account (Outlook/Hotmail or Office 365) without the need to create a RemoteSpark Account.

Multi-Step Animation

a 3D model with a step-by-step animation. This allows the user to play through a procedure in sequential order without having to see the full procedure play through. The animation, including the steps, are set as the file is exported by the creator of the 3D file and are part of the glTF (or .kspark) file.

Network Test Tool

the diagnostic tool within RemoteSpark that allows users to test if they have proper audio/video permissions enabled on their device, and they can connect to the STUN/TURN servers for video streaming and can hit the file storage locations on the RemoteSpark Server.

On-prem (on-premise)a RemoteSpark Server backend that is hosted on a client’s server, without touching the Azure public cloud.
Organizationa group of users that is managed by an Administrator.
Organization Gallery

a Gallery of 3D models and documents that’s accessible only by members of an Organization and is stored on the RemoteSpark Server. The assets can only be added to this Gallery by an Administrator and can only be added to video calls if each user in the call is part of the Organization.

Personal Gallerystorage for 3D models and documents that’s connected to your user account and stored on the RemoteSpark Server.
Placement boxwhen a 3D model is downloaded to the HoloLens call, the placement box contains the 3D model. It’s locked the user’s gaze and allows the user to place the model anywhere in their environment with an air-tap.
Quick call

the Quick Call button allows a HoloLens user to quickly initiate a video call with an Expert, with fewer steps. The call begins with Recommended Settings.

Recommend Settingsthe default video call settings, which includes 1mbps audio/video streaming resolution.
Remote Inkin a RemoteSpark video call, an Expert user can draw on the video feed using Remote Ink to highlight an object in a remote user’s environment.
Remote user

any user of the wearable version of RemoteSpark (HoloLens) that can connect with Expert users for live video-call support.

RemoteSpark Account

an account for RemoteSpark that’s created solely for use with the platform. The Microsoft Account Service is the alternative that allows users to sign-in and validate their account through Microsoft.

RemoteSpark Admin Tool

standalone application that allows Administrators to create and manage their Organization’s RemoteSpark user accounts and create a shared Organization Gallery for their users.

RemoteSpark Enterprise

the full version of RemoteSpark for the HoloLens.

RemoteSpark Expert

the PC version of RemoteSpark. RemoteSpark Expert is always free since the application is licensed by HoloLens device only.

RemoteSpark Session/Session file

a RemoteSpark video call, or an instance of RemoteSpark that is viewed solely by a remote user.

Once complete, all video calls that include 3D content are logged in a session file that stores all session items (images, 3D models, documents) on the RemoteSpark Server.

Sessions that include 3D content are stored on the RemoteSpark Server in a session file that’s accessible to both participants of a video call after it’s completed, or only to the user who created a custom session. This can be resumed or viewed on the HoloLens, or the objects can be saved to the user’s device.

Custom sessions also create a session file that is accessible/viewable by the user who created it.

RemoteSpark Serverthe backend for RemoteSpark (video/audio streaming, file storage, etc.) that runs in Microsoft Azure, and can also run in on-premise environments.
RemoteSpark TrialThe free license version of RemoteSpark for HoloLens.
Resume Sessionafter a RemoteSpark video call is complete, the HoloLens user can re-connect to the same Expert later by selecting the same session file and resuming the call. This will load all the same 3D content as the call connects.
Sideloading

the process of deploying an application to Windows 10 device (including HoloLens) without the Microsoft Store.

Standard Gallery

a pre-loaded Gallery of 3D models that all RemoteSpark users can access for sharing in RemoteSpark or viewing on the HoloLens.

Starred Sessions

allows users to add an important RemoteSpark Session to a repository that’s tied to their user account. These sessions can be viewed by the HoloLens to use and interact with the same 3D content from this previous video call, without the need to resume and reconnect with the Expert.

View Session

HoloLens users of RemoteSpark can access all the 3D content (3D models, documents, photos) that was shared in a past session by adding it to Starred Sessions, then selecting the View option. This does not require a video connection to the Expert but will let the HoloLens user see and interact with all the same content from that previous session.

Voice Commandsvarious speech inputs that a HoloLens user can use to trigger events in a RemoteSpark Session.
Voice Notification

notification that is heard by a remote user in a RemoteSpark Session for certain events (such as when an Expert user disconnects from a video call).
