When starting a low-bandwidth call you'll be presented with the option to choose from two different video codecs for the call. Both have their own sets of pros and cons.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons | |
H264 | Lower CPU Usage | Lower Video Quality |
Longer Battery Life | ||
VP8 | Higher video quality | higher CPU usage |
Shorter battery life |
Which should you choose?
VP8 will give you a higher quality of video during your call which is beneficial in a low-bandwidth scenario. If battery life and CPU usage are not a concern VP8 is your best option.
